Beyond the Score: Daphnis et Chloé

DESIRE AS MOTIVATION

The concert Daphnis et Chloé brings together three stories around the theme of desire, with music by Van Parys, Boulanger and Ravel. But each story is different; with different perspectives, different forms of desire, and different voices. Brussels Philharmonic invited slam poet and Brussels city poet Lisette Ma Neza to rediscover the stories through her own lens. How does she pack the works together? How does she write a new layer over the music? And what words does she add that reveal hidden layers?

With music, words and images, this concert evening invites you to reflect on what fuels desire and sets it in motion. The emotional power of the music by Annelies Van Parys, Nadia Boulanger and Maurice Ravel is given an extra dimension by Lisette Ma Neza's texts. For each work, she writes a prologue and enters into a live dialogue with Pitcho ( Brussels rapper, producer and actor). During the music, her words come to life in a visual translation by motion designer Ychaï Gassenbauer.

Step into the story of Daphnis et Chloé. Where music, spoken word and visual poetry merge, leaving room for the audience to illuminate their own perspectives and desires.
